Perfection

Perfection, oh, I mean Story, decided to turn five months young! It happened so fast. We are very much hooked at the hip. She is my little BFF.
Knowing that my sister can't hold her Evie for very long, I have been holding Story extra long at night. After she nurses, she usually falls asleep (we nurse lying down 98% of the time). I get to hold her and stare at her under the soft glow of her orange lamp. I rock her, pray over her, kiss her lips (cheeks, nose, too), sing to her. Just soak her in. I also praise God for giving her health and ask Him to heal Evie.

Will you do the same? Savor the moments you have with your wee ones. The messy house can wait. Your friends really don't care if there are crumbs/dust-bunny colonies on the floor. It makes us more real to one another when things aren't perfect anyway. Wouldn't you rather your friends get some sleep or enjoy their husbands than clean for you?
A little about my Story Elena:

Smiles with her whole body
Her smile is captivating
Sleeps 12 hours a night with no feedings
Takes about 3 short naps during the day but sometimes none at all
Strictly on breastmilk about every 3 1/2 hours (this is a huge blessing; I enjoy it more than I did with Wilder because I'm more relaxed)
Very interested in her feet; she grabs them
Can pass a toy from one hand to the other
Likes the swings at the park (she swings on Daddy's lap)
Has a robust laugh
Infatuated with Wilder unless he's not gentle
Coos and blows strawberries
Enjoys her exersaucer and johnny jumper
Rocks tummy time; we do at least 30 minutes per day
Is very strong--strong head, leg, neck control
Rolls over from back to tummy and vice versa
Makes a huge mess splashing in her bath
Hair has some texture (curls?!?!)
When last weighed about 1 month ago, she was 14.9 lbs
Very laid-back unless she is poopy or tired or blinded by the sun (really)
She is my heart. She makes me want one more baby. But she's still immobile and into nothing right now...I'm only chasing one very busy little boy.

*if you are interested in purchasing a hand-knit hat, like Story's, leave a comment or email me. I know people. ha. (really, my sweet friend T makes them; she's amazing); this is Story's hat for winter; it's very warm*

Late in the day yesterday I realized I didn't even hold Story. What?! How did that happen? I was too busy soaking in the sun and good conversation. Thanks for the encouragement to love our babies more.

She's a doll... and 14.9? My two month old was 14.6 at his last check. I really do have a linebacker on my hands, huh?!
Praying for your sister and little Evie.

My Mom had a framed verse that she passed on to me when I had my Madelyn-
"cleaning and scrubbing can wait til tomorrow
for babies grow up, we've learned through our sorrow
so quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep"
It is so simple and so true!

You are exactly right about not cleaning for friends! There are more important things in this world! Your baby girl is so sweet....ahhhh, how I miss those baby moments!
